What was your favorite thing about High school? Your least favorite thing?

I can imagine that we all have our own perception of what it was like to be a member of our class in 1968-1970.  I would like to understand how the rest of you viewed the experience.  My question is in two parts.  What was your favorite thing about high school? And then, what was your least favorite thing about the experience?

The best part of high school for me were the strong friendships made and the learning experiences shared with those friends, good and bad. It was a time of experiencing some of what life was like outside of the comfort zone we were accustomed to before gaining our "freedom" as young adults. The memories last a lifetime and the stories never get old. Some are yet to be told!

I don't think I have a least favorite thing. I wish I had made some better choices a few times throughout the Lee years, especially when I decided to have a party at my house with my family gone on vacation. I had it the night before they were to come home and yes they came home a day early. Right in the middle of the party. To make matters worse I was not at the house when they showed up. Ouch! one of the early responsibility / accountability lessons. Would this be considered hanging out some of the laundry :)

I had many friends, amazing teachers (mostly) which I remember fondly. I loved / hated being in band.  Music was my main passion during HS, yet the REL band was really sub-standard.  I knew this even as a student  - I wanted it to be so much better than it was.  However, that's probably what convinced me to pursue music education as a career - to prove that I could provide a better experience for band students than I had in HS.  Thankfully, that desire came true for me during 19 wonderful years as a high school band director.
